"The actors really do work cooperatively and not competitively. My daughter always spoke highly of the other actors and never felt that she was in competition with them." - Parent

Middle School Playmaking 2012

ONE SESSION ONLY: July 30 - August 10

A new two week program for younger middle schoolers!

Bring classic stories to life with your own imagination!

Working in an ensemble of up to 13 actors, the Playmaking Intensive uses improvisation and shared storytelling to create a short play based on Classical Greek mythology. In the second week, group play changes into rehearsal, focusing on character creation, vocal projection, physical engagement and performance energy to give the story life. Outdoor rehearsals and weekly campouts teach basic outdoor skills: learn to cook on a fire, set up a tent and avoid poison ivy! Swimming, outdoors games, all-camp revels and fun-filled rides in a purple bus get the playmakers involved in the wonderfully supportive camp community.

Great for all levels of experience. No audition is required.

The Play

The ensemble will perform the tale of Pandora's Jar. Before her success in the on-line radio business, Pandora had a very different claim to fame. When young Pandora is given a mysterious sealed jar, and told never to open it, she starts to wonder what's in it, and why it's so important. Just how long can she control her curiosity? The tale features clever tricksters, scheming gods, curious heroines, a few vultures and a literal army of troubles in this timeless tale of how fire, evil and hope all came into the world.

Perfect as an introduction to Traveling Players, or an addition to first session Middle School Ensemble.
