Traveling Troupe 2012

Experience a professional-level tour while still in high school!

Working in an ensemble of up to 14 actors, the Traveling Troupe rehearses a full-length Shakespeare play under the direction of master teacher and TPE's Founding Artistic Director Jeanne Harrison. Rehearsals focus on Shakespearean text analysis and speech, scene dynamics, stage movement, emotional and physical engagement and ensemble training. Outdoor rehearsals, rigorous rehearsals and weekly campouts prepare you to go on a spectacular 13-day tour by bus and backpack. Performances may include: the breathtaking Lime Kiln Theater, Douthat State Park and Colonial Williamsburg, site of the first theater in the colonies. The tour also includes outdoor fun: swimming, white water rafting, hiking and more.

Master the skills of touring a full production: camp, cook and perform outside; manage your own props, set, lights and costumes; form bonds with your fellow performers that last long after the summer is over. Perfect for experienced performers ready to take on greater challenges and rewards.

The Play

As You Like It
In Shakespeare's delightful comedy, the characters venture into the woods - and return transformed. Faithful cousins and vengeful siblings, city clowns and country clowns, wooing lessons and wrestling matches, poetic trees and prosaic sheep, men, women and women disguised as men, all tell this tale of how we find true love (and our true selves) in nature.

What to Bring to Camp

What to Pack for Tour!

Acrobatics Class - 2010

Traveling Players Ensemble's camp provides daily classes that prepare our young thespians to perform. In addition to weekly classes in textual analysis, voice, stage combat, and improvisation, TPE oftentimes invites Master Teachers to train our students in skills needed for a particular show. Our 2010 Traveling Troupe had so much fun learning how to do physical comedy on stage with Master Teacher and Movement Choreographer Matt Wilson!

A Selection from Macbeth - 2009
