SUMMARY:Pandora’s Fire
DESCRIPTION:Glen Echo Park Cuddle Up\, 7300 MacArthur Blvd\, Glen Echo  \nBy Judith Walsh White  \nEverybody knows the story of Pandora.  Pandora\, the first woman\, is granted a special gift by the gods: a sealed box.  Though she has been warned to leave it closed\, her curiosity gets the better of her\, and out into the world burst the first evils – jealousy\, grief\, greed\, and disease.  But what if there were more to the story?  In this unique adaptation of the classic tale\, follow the creation of humanity and all its faults\, and learn what really happened when Pandora opened that box. \nPandora’s Fire was the 1st play Traveling Players commissioned from playwright-in-residence Judith Walsh White for our Mythology Ensemble.  It was published by TheatreFolk and has had productions in Australia\, Saudi Arabia\, China\, Canada\, the UK\, and Gibraltar\, as well as throughout the US. \n35 minutes | ages 6+  \nFree and open to the public!

SUMMARY:Arachne
DESCRIPTION:Glen Echo Park Cuddle Up\, 7300 MacArthur Blvd\, Glen Echo  \nArachne is an extraordinary weaver. She takes great pride in her work\, so much so that she begins boasting of how no other could rival her skill\, not even Athena\, goddess of Wisdom & patron of Weaving\, who had herself blessed Arachne with the skill she now boasts about. The hubris enrages Athena\, who then challenges Arachne to a tapestry competition. Arachne weaves into her tapestry stories of the gods and their follies\, particularly Zeus. Athena knows the work is better than her own – embarrassed by the defeat and maddened by the stories Arachne has depicted\, she turns Arachne into a spider\, the first ever. Now\, Arachne and her descendants will weave their webs forever. \n35 minutes | ages 8+  \n  \nFree and open to the public!

SUMMARY:Remembering Argo Barnes
DESCRIPTION:Please join us to celebrate the life of the absolutely remarkable Argo Barnes. Argo was such an incredible pillar of our community\, and we would like to bring together the people who loved him to honor what he meant to all of us. \nArgo was a talented collage artist\, and in his name we will create a collage to honor him. \nHis friends have asked that those in attendance wear bright colors to honor his bright spirit. \nUPDATE:  \nWe are utterly touched and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for Argo. We are so glad so many of you loved him the way he deserved to be loved. \nUnfortunately\, our Studio is quite small\, so we are making the very difficult decision to close this event to just Traveling Players’ students\, their families\, and our faculty.  Anyone is welcome to join virtually. \nWe know that there are so many of you who loved Argo and would like to celebrate him. As we get information about future memorial events\, we will be sure to share it to the best of our ability. \nCan’t join us in person?\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/89901008329?pwd=9SUlEBIoTSjscdjahJTSt2mH9eb7He.1
