If you’re considering a summer with Traveling Players, you might be wondering:

Do I need to audition? What actually happens? And should I be nervous?

Let’s pull back the curtain and see what is in store!

Do You Need to Audition?

It depends on the program!

  • Day Camp and Act: FIVE: Nope, you don’t need to audition! Just register, and you’re ready to go.
  • Sleepaway Camps, Tech Theater, & Shakespeare Troupe: Yes! You need to audition! Techies, you will be interviewing instead.

How the Audition Process Works

Auditions can be done virtually or in person at the studio in Tysons, VA, but either way, you’ll need to register in advance. Spots can fill quickly, so early registration is the key.

Unlike traditional auditions, this isn’t just about delivering a monologue and leaving. Traveling Players auditions are designed to give you multiple ways to showcase your talents:

  • Perform your prepared piece (a monologue or non-alogue)
  • Read from scripts
  • Potentially collaborate with other actors

It’s not just about what you can do, it’s about how you work, play, and create with others.

See you at auditions!
