Dive into character!
Perfect for performers with a bit of experience, this scene study and improvisation class gives budding actors the chance to enhance their storytelling skills. By playing fun-filled improvisational theatre games, we will tap into each student’s creative juices while teaching basic acting skills: clarity of thought and action, mental agility, spontaneity, active listening and responding, and creative problem-solving. The foundation of acting training, scene work will give students the opportunity to dive deep into character creation, text analysis, and acting technique. Scenes will be chosen from our wealth of dramatic literature for young performers.
There will be no class on Election Night, November 3.

EJ Fultz
Lead Teaching Artist
EJ (she/her) is a DC-based theatre artist. A graduate of Belmont University with a BFA in Theatre Directing, EJ is overjoyed to return for her third summer as the lead teacher of our Acting Studio and Players Studio Day Camps! In addition to our Day Camps, EJ is a school-year director and teacher for our elementary school classes and productions – most recently directing Atalanta by playwright-in-residence Judith Walsh White.
EJ’s love of teaching began while she was still in undergrad when she spent three years teaching with Nashville Children’s Theater. She works in the DMV area as a Stage Manager and Assistant Director, most recently with Shakespeare Opera Theatre and Lorton Workhouse. EJ also teaches with Next Stop Theatre’s Stars on Stage program.
Of all the artists, EJ loves working with young artists the most. Their imaginations are vast, and they are excited to learn and explore! Her highest goal in the classroom is to build confidence, foster creativity, and create a safe and inclusive space. She believes that theatre can inspire hope by exploring stories, bringing joy, and creating friendships. She is a lover of physical comedy, creative drama, and, of course, Greek mythology!
Hana Scarlatoiu

Hana (she/her) is a recent undergraduate from Muhlenberg College and alumna of Traveling Players. This will be her fifth summer as a teaching artist for our Day Camps! Hana holds a BA from Muhlenberg College, where she majored in Theatre with a minor in Creative Writing/Journalism. While at Muhlenberg, she performed in numerous departmental theatre and dance productions and choreographed for departmental student dance concerts. Additionally, attended and performed at the American College Dance Association’s (ACDA) 2023 and 2024 conferences and the 2024 Women in Dance Leadership conference. Recently, she’s performed with the Allentown Public Theatre and in Muhlenberg’s production of Everybody by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, playing a Somebody. Her last choreographic work was created for her school’s Reset: New Dances 2025, titled What’s Behind the Radio? It will be featured at the Flair Dance Festival in Collingswood, NJ this June. Hana is drawn to physical and fun approaches to theatre technique.
Hana is thrilled to return to Traveling Players and looks forward to creating more art with young theatre makers.

Do I have to audition for Day Camp?
Nope! No audition for day campers. Just register!
Is there a Final Performance? Can parents attend?
Yes! And yes!
Day Camp: Show off what you’ve learned in a 30-minute showcase on your final Camp Day right in the Studio. Family, friends, and fans are welcome!
Sleepaway Camps & Conservatories: Your ensemble will mount a fully produced play. The final performance will be open to the public.
- Act: FIVE & Mythology Ensemble campers leave with their parents after their performance. All other campers return to Christchurch School for one last night – and to pack up all their stuff!
- Thespian, Comedy & Shakespeare Ensembles: Perform on the final Thursday.
- Families, friends, and fans of our Technicians should attend the show they worked on the most (we’ll email you and let you know).
- Shakespeare Troupe: Your week-long performance tour will feature several public performances.
Who are your Day Camp faculty?
Traveling Players faculty are a mix of professional educators, theatre artists and aspiring educators and theatre artists.

What plays do your day campers perform?
Our day camps use plays originally commissioned for our Mythology Ensemble by award-winning playwright Judith Walsh White. Some of these plays have gone on to be published with Traveling Players Students listed as the original actors!
